Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnam–Lao trade connection and product promotion fair 2025 opened in Vientiane on November 20, carrying the theme “peace – cooperation – shared development".

The four-day event aims to boost diplomacy, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange between the two countries, contributing to their stability and prosperity.

The fair was attended by representatives from both countries’ Ministries of National Defence, the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, and other relevant agencies. It provides a platform for Vietnamese businesses, including those of the Vietnam People’s Army, to network, explore partnerships, and expand trade with Lao companies and the Lao People’s Army, supporting the needs of citizens in both countries and the ASEAN region.

Spanning 7,000 sq.m with 150 standard booths from more than 70 enterprises, the fair also highlights the historic friendship, solidarity, and mutual support between the people and armies of Vietnam and Laos, both during the past struggle for national liberation and in the current process of national construction.

Colonel Phan Duong Minh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the General Department of Defence Industry, emphasised that the fair strengthens defence cooperation, strategic trust, and Vietnam’s international prestige, while promoting sustainable ASEAN development. The event also allows Vietnamese enterprises, particularly defence firms, to showcase products, expand business partnerships, and introduce Vietnamese culture, people, and innovations to international friends.

Major General Keosouvanh Phangphilavong, Director of the Propaganda and Training Department under the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army, highlighted the fair’s significance as Laos is preparing for the celebration of the 50th National Day and the 105th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane. The fair fosters business integration, trade promotion, and cooperation between the armies of both nations.

As part of the fair, the organisers presented 20 gifts to families of Lao armed forces and donated 30 computers and 10 printers to the Lao Ministry of National Defence./.
