2024 marks hottest year in Indonesia’s history

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) reported on January 3 that 2024 is recorded as the hottest year in the Southeast Asian country's history.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) reported on January 3 that 2024 is recorded as the hottest year in the Southeast Asian country's history.

This reflects a global trend, with many countries also reporting unprecedented temperature increases, sounding alarm on the urgent need for climate action.

According to BMKG, the average temperature in Indonesia in 2024 reached 27.5°C, which was 0.8°C higher than the average temperature from 1991 to 2020. This data was collected from 113 monitoring stations nationwide.

Notably, April 2024 was recorded as the hottest April in over 40 years in Indonesia, as extreme heatwaves swept across Asia./.
