25th SEA Games closes

The 25th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) came to a successful end on Dec. 18 after ten days of competition with Vietnam ranking second in medal standings.
The 25th Southeast Asian Games (SEAGames) came to a successful end on Dec. 18 after ten days ofcompetition with Vietnam ranking second in medal standings.

The final overall medals table reads Thailand on top with 86 golds, 83silvers and 97 bronzes. Vietnam is second at 83-75-57 and Indonesiaplaces third at 43-53-74.

Following top three countries in order are Malaysia , the Philippines ,Singapore , Laos , Myanmar , Cambodia , Brunei and East Timor .

At the 25th SEA Games, shooting brought about the largest number ofgold medals of 11 to Vietnam , followed by diving with 8 and Wushu,wrestling, athletics and Judo, all winning 7 golds each.

Ngo Huu Vuong is said to be the most successful athlete after snatchingfour golds in shooting; followed by Truong Thanh Hang and Nguyen DinhCuong, each having two golds in athletics.

The 26th SEA Games is expected to be organised in Indonesia in 2011./.

One of the clearest examples is Hieu Luc, a modest fish soup eatery on Hai Ba Trung Street in Hanoi, which has been included in the Michelin Selected category for the second consecutive year. Known for its clear, delicately sweet broth made from freshwater perch and mustard greens, the restaurant serves a traditional specialty from Hung Yen province.

ASEAN city leaders explore Hanoi’s heritage sites

At the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, delegates visited the Doan Mon Gate and learnt about the formation and development of the ancient capital through different historical periods at display spaces. They also explored the Kinh Thien Palace’s Dragon Steps (large stone steps with dragon carvings), regarded as the political and ceremonial centre of the imperial citadel during successive Vietnamese dynasties.
