Bac Lieu (VNA) – A working delegation of Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province led by Deputy Governor Em Pheap visited the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu to extend New Year wishes to local authority on January 14.
Chairman of the Bac Lieu provincial People’s Committee Pham Van Thieu briefed the guest on notable achievements on local socio-economic development over the past year and the development direction for 2025.
He said in early this March, Bac Lieu will host the first Vietnam salt industry festival - a national cultural event aimed at honouring the salt industry and promoting salt products. On this occasion, he invited Deputy Governor Em Pheap and the members of the Preah Sihanouk delegation to attend the festival.
Following the success of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation inked in 2014 between the two localities, Thieu proposed celebrating 10 years of bilateral collaboration and signing another for the new period in Preah Sihanouk province in April.
This will be a chance for both sides to review achievements they have obtained and to work together to build a more effective cooperation plan for the near future, he said.
Em Pheap, for his part, said this was his second visit to extend New Year wishes to Bac Lieu province, highlighting that the regular exchange of visits between the two provinces have helped strengthen their traditional friendship. He took this opportunity to extend his best wishes to leaders, officials, soldiers, and people of Bac Lieu province in the Year of the Snake.
He briefed the host about the achievements that Preah Sihanouk province has attained recently, such as the inauguration of a special economic zone and investment in international port and airport infrastructure. These attainments have benefited local people as well as promoted economic cooperation between the two localities.
On this occasion, he conveyed an invitation from the Governor of Preah Sihanouk to Thieu to visit the province and sign an important cooperation agreement in the coming time./.
