Jakarta (VNA) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) have launched a joint exercise at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base in Pekanbaru, Riau province of Indonesia.
The two-week event aims to strengthen defence cooperation and enhance interoperability.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exercise, Colonel David Dwi Martin W, Director of Training for the Indonesian Air Force, said that the exercise helps deepen ties between the two air forces while fostering mutual trust and respect between the two nations.
This year’s training includes aerial maneuvers, joint operations and friendly competitions designed to sharpen tactical skills and build teamwork. Both air forces deployed H225M Caracal helicopters, a versatile transport aircraft central to their fleets.
Colonel Philip Khoo, RSAF’s Director of Manyar Indopura Training, said the 20th edition carries historic significance, marking a milestone since the exercise was first launched.
He affirmed that the exercise has consistently provided an outstanding platform for both air forces to train together, exchange best practices and develop skills to tackle shared challenges.
Held annually between the Indonesian Air Force and the RSAF, the exercise serves as a strong symbol of the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Singapore in the field of air defence. It also underscores growing defence ties between Indonesia and Singapore, vital to stability in Southeast Asia’s skies./.
