Malaysia showcases over 25 new technologies at MTP 2025

Malaysia's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has introduced more than 25 technologies ready for commercialisation at the Mimos Technology Preview (MTP) 2025.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has introduced more than 25 technologies ready for commercialisation at the Mimos Technology Preview (MTP) 2025.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Mohammad Yusof Apdal said the event reflects the country's efforts to connect innovation with national development priorities, from semiconductors and quantum technologies to green and health care solutions.

Each innovation not only reflects technical excellence but also a commitment to addressing real challenges faced by businesses and society, he said, adding that by showcasing solutions developed by Malaysians for Malaysians, MTP 2025 affirms that he country possesses the creativity, expertise, and determination to lead in strategic areas.

The deputy minister stressed the importance of cooperation through the quadrilateral model, which strengthens connectivity between government, industry, academia and civil society organisations.

Dr. Saat Shukri Embong, President and Chief Executive Officer of the national applied R&D centre (MIOS) under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, noted that in recent years the centre has shifted its approach from focusing solely on research to ensuring technologies are developed in line with industry and user needs. Instead of remaining in laboratories, the centre’s initiatives are now ready for market launch, with affordable prices and reduced risks.

He added that Malaysia entered the top 100 of the Global Innovation Index last year, ranking 93rd, and has risen to 86th this year. Mimos aims to help the country reach the top 50 within the next five years.

At present, Malaysia is stepping up research and development in line with government agendas, the National Semiconductor Strategy and other key frameworks, while strengthening comprehensive partnerships to ensure that no Malaysian is left behind on the path towards becoming a high-tech developed nation./.
