- The first congress of the Government’s Party Organisations for the 2025-2030 tenure concluded successfully on October 13, completing all items on its agenda after two days of intensive, responsible, and productive discussions.
In his closing remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is also Politburo member and Secretary of the Government’s Party Committee, laid stress on the Government’s determination to build a strong and comprehensive Party organisation, contributing to the successful implementation of the resolution of the 14th National Party Congress. - The National Assembly (NA)’s Standing Committee continued its 50th session on October 13 afternoon to deliberate the revised bills on personal income tax and tax administration, highlighting comprehensive digital transformation in tax management.
Presenting the draft Law on Personal Income Tax, Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan said the bill focuses on several major revisions, including taxable income categories and calculation methods, tax exemption, personal income tax for individual business owners, deductions based on family circumstances and charitable contributions, and adjustments to the minimum taxable amount for lottery winnings, copyright royalties, franchise, inheritances, and gifts, raising it from 10 million VND (nearly 380 USD) to 20 million VND. - Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang hosted a welcome ceremony for and held talks with President of the Turkish Defence Industry Agency Haluk Görgün in Hanoi on October 13.

- General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), and Deputy Minister of National Defence, hosted Australia's Chief of Air Force (CAF) Air Marshal Stephen Chappell in Hanoi on October 13, during which the two sides agreed to further promote defence cooperation in the time to come.
The Vietnamese officer affirmed that Vietnam always treasures relations with Australia, and highly values Australia’s role and potential in the international and regional affairs. - The Vietnam–Cuba agricultural biotechnology and natural health network, an initiative by the Vietnamese Green Economics Institute, has recently been launched in Havana, Cuba.
Speaking at the October 11 event, Duong Bich Diep, Director of the institute, said that the network will serve as a comprehensive and synchronous platform connecting ideas to practice, and research to production and trade. It aims to help Cuban products reach the Vietnamese market and beyond, while enabling Cuba’s scientific knowledge to accompany Vietnam’s development process. Read full story
- The first Vietnam International Exhibition on Aquatic Science and Technology (VINAFIS EXPO 2026) will take place from April 28-30 in Ho Chi Minh City under the theme “Vietnam Fisheries Rising.”
VINAFIS EXPO 2026 will be the first comprehensive exhibition covering the entire fisheries sector, providing a platform for domestic and international stakeholders across the fisheries value chain, from exploitation, aquaculture, and logistics to processing, distribution, and trade, to connect and exchange. - The Soc Son Waste-to-Energy Plant — the largest in Vietnam and the second biggest in the world — was officially inaugurated in Trung Gia commune, Hanoi, on October 13.
With a capacity to process 5,000 tonnes of waste per day and generate 90 MW of electricity, the facility has been connected to the national grid since July 2022. It is considered a long-term solution to Hanoi’s waste management challenge. Read full story
