Bangkok (VNA) - Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on October 25 canceled his trip to attend the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Malaysia, following the death of Queen Morther Sirikit, the Bangkok Post reported.
According to the initial plan, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul was scheduled to depart Bangkok on October 25 to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. However, due to recent developments, he has postponed his trip.
Several sources said that PM Anutin is now expected to attend the summit on October 26 to sign the Thailand–Cambodia peace agreement, which will be witnessed by US President Donald Trump in the capacity of observer.
It is anticipated that the signing will be rescheduled from the afternoon to the morning, but if the US is unable to adjust, Anutin will delegate the task to Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow to sign on his behalf.
Regarding the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and related meetings, scheduled to take place from October 28 to November 1 in the Republic of Korea, PM Anutin has also assigned Minister Sihasak to represent Thailand at the meetings./.
